Refusal To Approval Guide
Understanding Visa Refusals: It's Not The End of the World
A visa refusal is heartbreaking, but it's not a permanent 'No'. Dr. Shruti Mehta
explains the common reasons behind rejections and, more importantly, how to fix them for
your next attempt.
Common Reasons for Refusal (Specifically Canada, Australia, UK)
1. Purpose of Visit Not Consistent
This is the most vague yet common reason. It means the officer is not convinced that your
study plan makes sense for your career history.
Example: An Arts student applying
for a technical Computing course without justification.
2. Insufficient Financial Assets
Even if you pay your GIC and fees, if your family's annual income (ITR) is low, the officer
may doubt your ability to support yourself in future years. Large, unexplained deposits in
your bank account just before filing are a major red flag.
3. Family Ties in Home Country
You must prove you have a reason to come back to India. If you have no assets, no job offer,
and all your family is already abroad, the officer might suspect you won't leave after your
visa expires.
How to Re-apply Successfully?
Blindly re-applying with the same documents will lead to another refusal. Follow this
strategy:
- Order GCMS Notes (For Canada): These are the officer's internal notes.
They tell you exactly why you were refused. Dr. Shruti Mehta analyzes these
notes personally.
- Draft a Letter of Explanation (LOE): This is your rebuttal. You need to
address every point the officer raised with evidence.
- Improve Your SOP: Your Statement of Purpose must connect the dots
between your past, this course, and your future career in India.
- Update Financials: Show liquid funds that are old and stable. Add an
affidavit of support from parents.
