Know exactly what your education loan will cost every month so you can balance it with living expenses and part-time earnings abroad.
Compare Interest Rates
Try different rates to see how a small change in interest affects your total outgo. A lower rate can save you lakhs over the loan tenure.
Choose the Right Tenure
A longer tenure lowers your EMI but increases total interest. Use this tool to find the sweet spot that fits your repayment capacity.

Understanding Your Education Loan
Three key things decide what you repay every month.
EMI Explained
EMI (Equated Monthly Instalment) is the fixed amount you repay every month. It is calculated using the standard formula EMI = P × r × (1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n − 1), where P is the principal, r is the monthly interest rate and n is the number of months. Each EMI covers both principal and interest.
Interest Rates
Education loan interest rates in India typically range from around 8% to 15% per annum. Banks and NBFCs such as SBI, HDFC Credila and Avanse may offer different rates based on your profile, course and collateral. A co-borrower often helps you secure a lower rate.
Loan Tenure
A longer tenure means a lower monthly EMI but higher total interest, while a shorter tenure saves interest but increases your EMI. Many lenders also offer a moratorium period while you are studying. Choose a tenure that fits your repayment capacity after you start earning.
