PTE vs IELTS for Canada — FAQs

Yes. PTE Academic is fully accepted for Canada Express Entry since 2023. IRCC uses CLB scores, and PTE scores are converted to CLB equivalents. A PTE score of 50+ equals CLB 7 which is competitive.

It depends on the individual. Many students find PTE easier because speaking is recorded (no examiner pressure), results come faster, and the format is predictable. Others find IELTS easier due to familiarity. Our free assessment helps you decide.

Yes. Most Canadian universities (including top ones like UBC, University of Toronto, McGill) accept PTE Academic for student visa applications. A score of 58–65+ is typically required for undergraduate and graduate programs.
